Cowley College Hosts Spring Robotics Competition for Area Students

Cowley College welcomed 200 students from across south-central Kansas for its annual Spring Robotics Competition, showcasing creativity, teamwork, coding skills, and problem-solving through two days of engaging robotics challenges.
The event featured separate competition days for basic and advanced divisions, allowing students of varying experience levels to test their abilities in a wide range of robotics, coding, AI, and engineering-based events.
A total of 150 students representing 50 teams from 15 schools participated in the basic division, while 50 students representing 13 teams from seven schools competed in the advanced division.
Throughout the competition, students took part in more than a dozen events designed to challenge their technical knowledge and innovation. Advanced competition events included coding and maneuvering robots through mazes, drone racing, AI computer challenges, Vex Clawbot block transfers, robot bowling, and mystery coding challenges. Special activities such as the “I AM an ARTISTE” robot sketch contest and Mr. Potato Head Challenge added creativity and fun to the event.
The basic division featured hands-on robotic driving and problem-solving challenges including Sphero obstacle courses, Dash Robot Soccer, Vex Clawbot events, drone racing, AI challenges, and multiple puzzle and engineering-based contests.
Awards were presented to the top three overall teams in each division, with students receiving first-, second-, and third-place medals for their performances.
Basic Division Team Champions:
1st Place – Team 18, Udall
2nd Place – Team 37, Clearwater
